As part of ongoing safety upgrades at the Wadimba Natural Gas Processing Plant, operated by Gas Company Limited (GASCO), our team completed the supply and installation of certified fire-rated doors. These doors meet global fire safety standards. Specifically, this project boosts the plant’s emergency response systems.

Project Scope Overview
First, the project involved two main tasks:
- Removing old fire doors from three gas engine rooms that were no longer safe to use.
- Installing new high-performance fire-rated door systems. These are tested to BS EN 1634-1 and BS 476 Part 22 standards. Importantly, they can resist fire for up to 120 minutes.

Technical Specifications Details
The new fire doors are made of steel with special insulation. They feature galvanized steel sheets, mineral wool cores, and fire seals. As a result, these doors provide multiple safety benefits:
- They resist fire and heat for 60 to 120 minutes
- They stop smoke from spreading (meeting EN 1634-3)
- They close automatically when needed (meeting EN 1154 and EN 1155)
- They have special coating to prevent rust in tough conditions
Outcome and Safety Benefits
The new door systems greatly improve the plant’s fire safety. Furthermore, they help meet international safety rules. These special doors protect workers, equipment, and building areas. In case of fire, they contain the flames and smoke. This means safer escape routes and less damage.
